We are starting this article by asking the following question “How can I distinguish a false doctrine”? The answer is plain simple, through the Scriptures.  If you are ignorant about what the Word of God says, we can’t distinguish between God’s truth and satan’s lies. This point is illustrated in the Scriptures. When Jesus was tempted by satan in Mat. 4:1-11, observe the way Jesus answered to the devil the three times he was tempted . “But he answered and said, It is written” v. 4, “Jesus said unto him, It is written again” v. 7, “Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written” v. 10. Jesus knew very well what His Father had expressed in the Scriptures and with it defeated satan. The same line of thought is expressed by Paul in Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” If we don’t know what God had expressed in His Word we are a easy prey for the demonic influences that are transmitted through these false doctrines, cults and religions. Satan and his army had targeted the foundation of the body of Christ, which has been established though the teaching of The Word of God. Disguising lies as they were the truth, which can only be detected by knowing in the spirit of God’s word. Eph. 1:16-20 Throughout the years has been a decreased of teaching within the body of Christ, which had lead Christians in ignorance and open to any attack of demons. This decreased of teaching of the Word of God, have opened the door to false teachings and doctrines of demons, which had stopped born again Christians to pursue their heavenly calling. Heb. 3:1.  These attacks from demons through false teachings, fallacies and false doctrines will be in the raising until the antichrist appearance. Here are the passages that warned us about these form of attack against the body of Christ:

“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Mat. 15:9
“For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.” Acts 20:29-30
“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” Rom. 16:17-18
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Gal. 1:8-9
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.” Eph. 4:14-15
“As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.” 1 Tim. 1:3-4
“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.” 1 Tim. 1:18-20
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” 1 Tim. 4:1-3
“But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.” 2 Tim. 2:16-18
“For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.” 1 Tit. 1:10-11
Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.” Heb. 13:9
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” 2 Pet. 2:1-3
“Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.” 2 Pet. 3:17

How to separate the genuine Christians from those who are corrupted and polluted with the world? Jesus gave us the answer:

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Mat. 7:15-20

These passages are the keys to distinguish between God’s people and satan’s intruders. The key word in the above passages is “fruits”, which is the result of their works. There is no such thing as a believer in Christ doing satan’s work in the body of Christ. There is no such thing as a believer in Christ doing satan’s work in the body of Christ. Such thing as genuine Christians doing the devil’s work inside the body of Christ doesn’t exist. Otherwise that would contradict the Scriptures and that it is impossible. Observe what the following passage express of those who are among us but are not one of us.

“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” 1 John 2:19

What determine that you are born again and member of the body of Christ, is not that you are a member of a local church but your fruits as a born again Christian. Many have the wrong idea that because you are attending to a local church you are a Christian, which is opposite with what the Scriptures express about it. Salvation does not depend upon your attendance to a local church nor your involvement in it but rather in the sacrifice of Jesus upon the cross. Rom. 10:9-10.

Evaluation of the nature of their fruits:

Anyone who had been saved by the power of Jesus’s sacrifice will produce fruits that will glorified God’s name. In the book of Galatians 5:22-23 expressed such fruits:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Gal. 5:22-23

But the opposite of these fruits are” the works of the flesh”, which are mentioned in verses 19-21 of the same chapter:

” Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

How can I detect these false teachers?

By examine and judging their teachings through God’s word. Here are some red flags in their teachings:

  1. Replaced God’s word for fallacies and human theories.
  2. They are not preparing the people for the rapture. This is a fact, when a congregation is not teaching about the rapture, this a a sign that they are deviated from the main purpose that brought them together.
  3. Money is the main subject in all they do. If you are a member of a local congregation and your leader is been driven by money, you are heading in the wrong direction. Satan is deceiving a lot of people by getting them involve with material things more than the spirituals. but what the Scriptures says about it?
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Tim. 6:10
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Mat. 6:24
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Heb. 13:5
“Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15

Observe what Jesus said about our material things:

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” Mat. 6:25-32

When we focus more on the material things, we are acting the same way as before we received Jesus as savior. Anyone that focusing more on the material than the spiritual is acting just like a gentile, which basic meaning that we are acting on our own abilities and not trusting in the Lord. Jesus message didn’t end up there but gave us the right way to act as born again Christians.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Mat. 6:33

This is true Christianity, total dependency in God and not on my own human abilities.

“Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.” Psalm 62:10

God wants us to prosper but not to become selfish and ego-center as many had became.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 1:2

The true prosperity start in your spirit and extend to your soul and your body. Everything here on earth is TEMPORARY and when you depart from it you will take nothing with you.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” Mat. 6:19-20

Hundreds of people are raising thousands of dollars to build huge churches with huge parking lots but they have forgotten what Mat. 6:19-20 says. After the rapture all those building will be left behind  and after the Millennial kingdom of Christ, they would be destroy by the fire that are going to cleanse the earth.

Any material blessing from God to your life is with the purpose of glorifying His Holy name.

Don’t waste your time asking for material things but instead focus in your spiritual growth and in doing God’s purpose for your life, because all the rest is temporary.

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” Prov. 16:3
” Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.” Psalm 119:2
“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” Prov. 10:22

God blessings be upon you!!
